Solubility Limits of Major Salts in Sodium Chloride Solutions
نویسندگان
چکیده
The solubility limit data of salts are typically measured in distilled water and not in saline or salt-laden solutions. So, the current study was initiated to measure the solubility limit of major salts in different concentration of NaCl solutions and was compared to the solubility limit of the same salt to that in real seawater solution. A major finding from the experimental results was that the 25% NaCl solution cannot be considered equivalent to Kuwait seawater solution with regard to solubility limit. Keywords—Solubility limit, NaCl solution and seawater

Cholesterol solubility in mixed micellar solutions of ionic and non-ionic surfactants.
The solubility of cholesterol in mixed aqueous ionic and non-ionic micellar systems in the presence and absence of salts and ionic dyes has been studied. The mixed micellar system of cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide and Triton X-100 solubilized more cholesterol than a system consisting of sodium dodecyl sulfate and Triton X-100. The influence of salts and dyes on these systems was moderate but ...

Milk protein concentrate (MPC) is one of the major ingredients in foods due to its nutritional and functional properties including solubility, water binding, foaming, and emulsification. The foaming ability of milk proteins could potentially allow them to replace egg white protein; however, there is a lack of research on foaming properties of MPC. The goal of this study was to investigate the e...

In 1925, Holt, La Mer, and Chown (1) reported that the apparent solubility product [Ca++13[P04=J2 was greater in a solution of inorganic salts approximating the composition of serum than it was in solutions of sodium chloride of the same ionic strength. Very shortly thereafter, Sendroy and Hastings (2) recalculated values for pK’, Ca,(PO& from the data of Holt, La Mer, and Chown and also report...
متن کاملHygroscopic salts and the potential for life on Mars.
Hygroscopic salts have been detected in soils in the northern latitudes of Mars, and widespread chloride-bearing evaporitic deposits have been detected in the southern highlands. The deliquescence of hygroscopic minerals such as chloride salts could provide a local and transient source of liquid water that would be available for microorganisms on the surface. This is known to occur in the Ataca...
متن کاملThe Effect of Salts on the Ionisation of Gelatin
The effect of the addition of sodium chloride to gelatin solutions is shown from the Donnan relationship to increase the ionisation of the gelatin, the increase produced in acid solutions reaching a maximum at about 1/1000 molar salt concentration. This effect is attributed to the formation of complex ions. From the similar action of calcium and copper chlorides the effective combining power of...
